Bart BogaardMy journey as Planning Services consultant at EyeOn kickstarted with the Strategic Days in Paris this January. During this internal event all global EyeOn employees come together to discuss our strategy for this year. It was exciting to meet people from the entire company in both a serious pragmatic way, and to be able to assess their karaoke skills during the night.

During the first month of onboarding, we had extensive sessions where I had the opportunity to understand what my study in Operations Management & Logistics meant in practice. The real-world application of academic knowledge on forecasting in time series, and their implications on supply chain parameters linked theory to valuable insights for customers.

After just a few weeks, I was already working on customer projects and services. It was a rewarding experience to work with both pharmaceutical companies and retailers. One project that stands out involves the design and implementation of an RCCP planning tool, which balances the utilization of production sites and the demand. Projects like these offer a nice challenge to use your theoretical supply chain knowledge, and learn the newest software tools and skills to achieve your goal.

Overall, I have gained valuable knowledge and skills that I will continue to develop throughout my career, and I am excited to see what the future holds!

After obtaining my master’s degree, I was looking for a job. When I got in contact with EyeOn, it immediately felt like the perfect match. During my study of Operations Management and Logistics at the TU in Eindhoven, my interests in optimizing supply chain related processes developed. This is of course one of EyeOn’s expertises. I’m part of the Planning Services team, which delivers recurring forecasting, inventory, and end-to-end insights solutions as a service.

Lisan van de GevelI started at EyeOn November 2022 and the transition from student life to everyday work has been great. One of the things that I immediately noticed when I started at EyeOn was the focus on development, not only personal development but also the development as a team. In the first month, we had the ‘innovation week’. This is a week during which you can work on any new innovative and out-of-the-box idea together with colleagues. At the end of the week, all new ideas are presented and some of them are selected to be worked out further.

But it does not stop there, I have also worked on my personal growth over the past months. This is done by creating your own ‘personal development plan’. In this plan you outline your ambitions and the necessary steps that you want to take to get there. This can be both hard and soft skill related. It is not always easy to lay out all the steps, but it definitely gives you some grip on getting where you want to go. One of my goals is for example to increase my knowledge about driver-based forecasting, which means using machine learning to forecast demand.

All in all, my start at EyeOn could not have been better! If you have any questions regarding my job as a consultant at EyeOn, feel free to reach out. And if you are already interested, check out our vacancies!

I met EyeOn at the job fair at the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science where I just had graduated with my masters in Data Science & Entrepreneurship after having worked for more than two years in B2B sales for Bosch in Germany. Within my first talk with the recruiter, I was told something about people that are passionate about their work, fun events, and a great company culture. To be honest – something I had heard from many companies back then.

6 months later after joining EyeOn and what can I say?

First, I feel at home in a young dynamic team striving for excellence in offering customer value while having fun doing so. There is never a day without a quick intense discussion about a specific forecasting topic. I like being surrounded by likeminded, passionate people. At the same time whenever I get stuck there is someone to help out and the environment makes it very obvious that we learn from our mistakes, enabling me to get better every day.

Second, within 6 months I have already joined two company-wide events, did a tea tasting with colleagues, played padel, and participated in numerous smaller activities with the team like VR games, spike ball, or a table soccer tournament. As a competitive sports enthusiast these activities offer a great active balance to the daily job activities, strengthening team dynamics and improve my internal networking at EyeOn.

Third, I highly value the flexibility and independence I have with various growth potential. After my onboarding I have already taken over a service ownership for one of our biggest clients, joined a new service implementation, did deep dives in forecasting methods, and joined our new business development taskforce for the German market. I feel like being at the job-buffet where I am able to combine several activities from different job roles for my own unique role at EyeOn. With my personal coach, various training possibilities, and a long term goal in mind I get the opportunity to personally grow alongside with the organization.

Hence, I am excited to move on with my EyeOn journey with a lot of fun, freedom, and forecasting.

Natalia at Croy castleI knew about EyeOn for at least 8 years before I joined. The company looked like a perfect match for me from a professional perspective, as I’m passionate about supply chain planning and data science, and for my personal development. EyeOn has a no-nonsense working culture with a flat hierarchy. They care about healthy work-life balance and value employees’ long-term potential through the customized coaching program that enables their personal development plan with internal mentors and a psychologist. And as a cherry on the cake, the headquarters of EyeOn is located in an authentic medieval castle, Croy, just 30 min bike ride from my house.

There was one big ‘But’ in this perfect story though – EyeOn was a business consulting company, and they did not need a business development professional like me. So you can imagine how thrilled I was when I heard early this year that EyeOn was expanding its products/services focus and was looking for a business development & sales lead for Planning Services. Planning Services is a part of EyeOn that provides recurring outsourced services focused on high-quality forecasting, inventory optimization, and actionable end-to-end supply chain insights.

Natalia presenting at Planning Services team dayI applied immediately, successfully completed the application process, and could finally join my dream company in May’22. My expectations were fully met: after a smooth and exciting onboarding, I am working on growing the pipeline for Planning Services to bring more value to our customers. I’m also looking for more business development professionals, so if you are interested in joining us, please ping me and, who knows, maybe my dream company will be yours as well soon.

Check out our open positions!

In spring I learned that there is a food shortage and crazy prices on basic food supplies in the Kharkiv area. I reached out to the EyeOn Foundation and asked for help. We contacted a restaurant in Kharkiv which has been converted into an aid center by volunteers. This organization is named after the date the war started: 24.02. They cook daily meals for Kharkiv’s residents who lost their homes or cannot afford buying food. The volunteers’ biggest challenge is obtaining basic foods for the meals they cook. There is little left for sale in that part of Ukraine; and what is available is very expensive.

The EyeOn consumer products team reached out to their contacts (our customers) for help. We received a donation of 2 pallets (a full van) of cookies from Peijnenburg. These were transported to Ukraine and delivered to children in the Mykolaiv region.

The EyeOn Foundation donated money for buying food at Makro (through EyeOn connections). We bought 8 pallets of shelf-stable food (more than 5 tons of spaghetti, beef, vegetables, and rice). The Makro pallets were gradually shipped to Ukraine, first by passenger vans from ‘Fast Lane Ukraine’, and finally a big truck came and picked up all the rest. The food was transported to a warehouse in Poland, and from there forwarded to Kharkiv.

Thank you to the volunteers of 24.02, Ruud van der Heijden from Peijnenburg, Makro, Fast Lane Ukraine, André Vriens, Ieke le Blanc, Andries Mulder, and all the others that contributed!

Bregje van der StaakMy connection with EyeOn goes back to 2016 when I started my PhD at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). We were looking for a company to collaborate. Freek Aertsen, one of the partners of EyeOn, and Maarten van Liempd, one of the data scientists, were immediately enthusiastic and our collaboration begun. Together with Freek and Maarten, we analyzed patterns in data and presented this to the customers of EyeOn at various events.

In the four years of research at the TU/e, I gained a lot of industry knowledge from Freek and Maarten and decided to apply for a job as business consultant in the process industry team. This was a good choice. From day one, I immediately felt part of the team. I work on various projects simultaneously with many different colleagues from various backgrounds. During my two years at EyeOn, I have performed projects related to data science, end-to-end transformation, S&OP and I have also provided trainings. Next to my role within projects, I am also leading one of the innovations together with my colleague. During my PhD I worked on the topic human behavior in planning and forecasting. This topic is now taking further effect within EyeOn with the help of a master student. One of our goals is for example to design actionable dashboards for our customers.

If you would like to know more about the role that I have within EyeOn, feel free to reach out.

Luuk van der VorstMaking a career switch isn’t always an easy decision. But when EyeOn Planning Services reached out there immediately was this ‘click’. During the interview process EyeOn came across as a company with ambitious growth goals. You get a lot of freedom to create your own way of working while working with a mix of young but also experienced professionals to resolve challenging supply-chain challenges for large multinational companies.

Fast-forward to a little over six months later.. I can really say that I am enjoying myself and for sure do not regret the decision to make ‘the switch’. In February I joined EyeOn Planning Services as delivery lead. Together with a team of service owners we deliver forecasting, inventory, and end-to-end insights solutions as a service. My roles and responsibilities are very broad, e.g. managing new service builds, contract management, service reporting. But if you ask me, the most important aspect is building a relationship with our customers to strengthen and keep realizing service improvements over time and making sure that the service owners have fun doing so!

Some more reflecting on this past period I can say these are some of the highlights:

  • In this short amount of time, I already have been in contact with fourteen different globally oriented multinationals.
  • Interacting with a team of multiple service owners and experienced industry experts to service this clientele.
  • Responsible for two new service builds.
  • Realizing one successful service transfer, where EyeOn helped a customer through various coaching sessions to build the data science capabilities themselves to run a monthly statistical forecast.
  • Joined the EyeOn inspiration days in Cologne, where EyeOn came together to share inspiration and best practices and most of all to have fun and bond with all colleagues.
  • Performing the first ever Planning Services customer survey and achieving a customer satisfaction of 8.3!

If you would like to know more about my journey so far, feel free to reach out.

Floor and her supervisor Dina

In February I started my internship at EyeOn in the data science team. This internship is part of my thesis to finish my master in Business Analytics and Operations Research at Tilburg University. The topic of my thesis is applying reinforcement learning to inventory optimization problems.

Immediately when I started at EyeOn, I felt welcome. Even though I am an intern, it feels like I am part of the company like every other employee at EyeOn. This is also the main reason I chose EyeOn for my internship. I know it’s the same for the other interns too. As interns, we also joined the inspiration days in Cologne, which I really enjoyed.

One of the things I like about this internship, is the close contact with my supervisor at EyeOn, Dina. She is very helpful, intelligent, and I can learn a lot from her to make the best out of my thesis. We even celebrate our big accomplishes with some homemade cake! Besides the contact with my supervisor, also all my other colleagues are happy to help me and are open to questions at any time.

In addition to working on my thesis, I am also busy with organizing the next team event and a game afternoon. These little things make sure that, besides my thesis, I can do other things I like.

If you want to write a thesis focusing on supply chain, inventory optimization, and forecasting, the family-like company EyeOn is definitely a place I would recommend.

Interested? Check our vacancies or get in touch with our corporate recruiters Inge Loog and Bart Geerts!

E2E transformation with EyeOn https://eyeonplanning.com/blog/e2e-transformation-with-eyeon/ Thu, 14 Jul 2022 07:59:13 +0000 https://eyeonplanning.com/?p=14584 An employee story by Bart Paridaen After a few years

An employee story by Bart Paridaen

After a few years of work experience in the industry, I joined EyeOn in 2010 with the ambition to grow my skills and capabilities in different areas (functional knowledge, project management, analytical skills). Over the years, I have grown and developed myself in big steps, while at the same time EyeOn has grown from a relatively small mainly Dutch company to an international company with more than 100 employees. A lot of parallels in terms of development growth.

Bart Paridaen, meeting, E2E transformationI started in my first years as a junior consultant working for different clients in a mix of project based and interim planning assignments. Over the years, I have developed to become a senior lead consultant in the life science team, actively contributing to business development, being an internal coach, and lead of the end-to-end (E2E) transformation strategic initiative. A bit of everything, exactly the way I like it. A different challenge every day.

Specifically in my new role as E2E transformation lead I really appreciate the opportunity to build something new within the company. As part of the E2E transformation, we serve companies that are undergoing a transformational change and as such are changing their planning organization, processes, planning tools, and data setup and governance. Our drive is to help customers with tangible and lasting implementations. On a personal level, I apply within the role of E2E transformation lead a lot of what I have learned over the years to further shape our product offering, marketing strategy, and internal team and capability level. Working on this challenge together with our internal team and creating new opportunities has really given me a new energy boost.

Let’s transform together! We’re looking for an experienced master data consultant to strengthen our team.
